DEDICATION
This dance video was part of a recent show Sara Jinks and I produced called, Space 50. The show was a love letter dedicated to my late father, Ed Cardiff, and all things outer space. It is through his eyes and mind that I first got my true appreciation of the beauty of science and the universe.
PROGRAMME NOTES
Two Little Men In a Flying Saucer is a film about two aliens coming down to explore earth, taking a look around and wanting to get the heck out of here! It is a literal representation of the wonderful song of the same title, sung by Ella Fitzgerald. The song was released back in 1951 but still holds some truth today. The film is light and funny with a bit of an ode to some of Seattle’s iconic places. However, it perhaps has a deeper message about the craziness that is our planet earth and how confounding it can be. The aliens are played by the fabulously talented Wade Madsen (local superstar choreographer, performer, dance instructor) and his equally talented husband Eric Pitsengarger (who is a multi-talented mover, performer, writer, visual artist extraordinaire). I had the vision for this piece for quite some time, and am grateful to all that were involved, especially Sara Jinks and Rob Cunninham for their collaboration and technical expertise. And big props to Eric Pitsenbarger for the animations.
