FRIDAY PANELISTS

Amy J Lambert (she/her) is a Seattle-based dance artist who playfully choreographs and directs in the realms of theater and concert dance. She obtained her BFA in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts and is an active dance maker, producer, and dance educator. She is currently the director and choreographer for AJnC Dance-Theater (now named RicketySticks Dance-Theater) and her work has received critical acclaim as she “creates works that masterfully blend the beautiful physicality of dance and the playful absurdity of theater...” (SeattleDances). Noel Price-Bracey (she/her) is a pre-doctoral lecturer and instructor of record at the University of Washington, where she will complete her MFA in Dance this coming spring. As an independent artist Noel has performed and choreographed for many local Seattle festivals, community engagements, and interdisciplinary works since 2015. Noel established, multi-disciplinary arts organization, PRICEarts LLC in 2014 as a conduit for her passion to educate through art. Theatrical expression, physical and verbal, are the primary mediums Noel uses to engage others, investigate phenomena, and illuminate public discourse.

Victoria Watts, PhD (she/her) is Executive Director of the Seattle Moisture Festival and works part-time as a lecturer for the Royal Academy of Dance where she supervises research students and teaches a graduate course on Dance, Education and Culture. For seven years she proudly served as Chair of the Dance Department at the historic Cornish College of the Arts. Watts is an Advanced certified practitioner of Labanotation and Benesh Movement Notation, initiated the Royal Academy of Dance’s program of work for older adults through her Dance for Lifelong Wellbeing project, and is passionate about inclusive dance practice.  


SATURDAY PANELISTS

Donald Byrd (he/him) is the Artistic Director of the Seattle based Spectrum Dance Theater, a TONY nominated (The Color Purple) and Bessie Award winning (The Minstrel Show) choreographer. He has created works for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Dance Theater of Harlem, The Joffrey Ballet among others; and worked extensively in theater and opera including The New York Public Theater, The 5th Avenue Theater, CenterStage (Baltimore), Seattle Opera, Dutch National Opera, The Atlanta Opera, The Israeli Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and San Francisco Opera. Awards, prizes, and fellowships include Doris Duke Artist Award, James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award, Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts (Cornish College of the Arts), Masters of Choreography Award (The Kennedy Center), Fellow at The American Academy of Jerusalem, James Baldwin Fellow of United States Artists, Resident Fellow of The Rockefeller Center Bellagio, Fellow at the Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue (based at Harvard), Rainier Club Laureate, the Gordon Davidson Award (Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation) and the Mayor’s Arts Award for his sustained contributions to the City of Seattle.

Marlo Martin (she/her) is a director, choreographer, teacher, and producer in Seattle, WA. She holds a BFA in dance from Western Michigan University and recently was honored to receive the 2022 WMU Department of Fine Arts Distinguished Alumni award for Arts Education. Martin founded and currently directs eXit SPACE, a center for dance education and performance opportunities for the beginning student through professional level dancer. Currently you can find Marlo forging new work for her company, badmarmarDANCE (W I T N E S S premieres Oct 27-29 at NOD), teaching weekly technique classes at eXit SPACE while co-directing the pre-professional division, thePROGRAM and working as the Artistic Director as well as producer of events, programming, and concerts at NOD Theater. She is genuinely interested in sharing her vision and ideas through teaching and creating dance, by developing forums for the exploration and presentation of dance works, and by supporting and nurturing fellow dancers, artists, and director.

Wade Madsen (he/him) has been teaching and choreographing in the Seattle area since 1977. He is a master teacher and an accomplished choreographer as he has received various national grants and fellowships over the past many years. He has over 180 pieces to his credit, and has produced many of those works with his company ‘Wade Madsen and Dancers’. Wade has been commissioned by various colleges and companies  throughout the United States and Mexico. Madsen’s work has also been commissioned by Seattle Rep Theater, On the Boards, ACT theater and  Seattle Opera. Wade Madsen was  a full professor of Dance at Cornish College of the ARTS from 1986- 2021. Madsen has toured with Bill Evans company, Tandy Beal and company,  Dayna Hanson performance group, and Peggy Piacenza.  Wade continues to teach Dance and Choreography in the Seattle area along with teaching an on-line Yoga and strength class and teaches Private classes in The Gyrotonic Method.
